Why this award exists
Where dermatology begins
Perceptions of dermatology and venereology as a specialty are often shaped during medical school. Through this award, the EDF seeks to encourage and celebrate initiatives that strengthen teaching, enhance knowledge transfer, and increase the visibility of dermatology and venereology within medical education.
The award honors individuals, teams, or institutions whose educational innovations have made a meaningful contribution and difference to student learning and engagement, helping to inspire the next generation of dermatologists and venereologists.
Who can apply
Eligibility
Applications are welcome from individuals, teams, or institutions. Each application must be submitted by one designated contact person on behalf of the applicant(s).
Any role in education
Students, teachers, and collaborators involved in undergraduate teaching are all eligible.
One EDF recommendation required
At least one current EDF member must support the application.
What we look for
Selection criteria
Innovative teaching in dermato-venereology Initiatives that introduce new pedagogical approaches and technologies to improve how dermato-venereology is taught and understood by students and learners.
Improved learning initiatives Projects that enhance already existing teaching systems (e.g. Europe) or address unmet needs and gaps in education (e.g. global dermatology teaching in less developed countries).
Innovative digital or online teaching Development of digital tools, e-learning platforms, or online resources that make dermato-venereology education more accessible, engaging, and effective.
Organizational innovation Structural or organizational improvements within dermato-venereology education that create more efficient, inclusive, or impactful learning environments.
Other knowledge-transfer initiatives Any other initiative that meaningfully enhances the dissemination and transfer of dermatological knowledge across academic, clinical, or community settings.
